Iridite coating of brass

Is it possible to put an Iridite coating on brass to the MIL-C-5541 class 3 spec?

Hi, Ron. Yes, maybe, no :-)

Iridite is a Macdermid trade name for a range of chromate conversion coating products, and YES, it is possible to beneficially apply a chromate conversion coating to brass.

Whether Macdermid has a specific Iridite product that they market specially for brass, I don't know, so MAYBE -- hopefully another reader will confirm, and certainly you can inquire of Macdermid.

But, NO, it cannot be applied to the referenced spec because that is a spec for doing chromate conversion coating on aluminum. Good luck.
