Passivation process in barrel line

2007

In acid zinc plating, the RPM of barrel is 8 RPM ( required for plating ) and since the same barrels are used in precleaning upto passivation, the barrels rotate at the same RPM in all the baths.
As the barrels rotates at the same speed in Passivation bath also, is it the right speed. I am of the view that a slower rotation may help better passivation converison and lesser damage to chromate film. This comes form the fact that lesser problems are seen in offline passivation( if done in bakskets after unloading from plating barrels).

In case barrel rotation speed is ideal what is the speed and how to do only in passivation in the same line?

Hi Sridhar,

You can add an elctronic speed control to your barrel's motor.
Even you can program it to turn forward and backwards.

Dear Mr Shridhar,

Why not just dunk the barrels in air agitated baths, twice without rotation during passivation?
