Restoring mirror finish on classic automotive stainless trim
What is the best way for a home owner to restore the mirror finish on stainless trim on a 1960's automobile?

You need speed to do this. The easiest way to get the'mirror' is to get a high speed drill with 2" buffing wheel attached into chuck. Get 'black' compound stick for polishing Stainess steel and buff over area till done. Tape off surrounding areas to prevent collateral damage. Sounds like good project.

You can probably do it yourself given enough time and trial and error. I can give you a beautiful finish in much less time and most likely a better finish. Playing with little buff wheels on drills and bench grinders rarely give you a true show car shine on stainless.
I can do that kind of work at a price that might surprise you.
