How to achieve satin / matte finish on SS304 pipe ?

2007

We are about to manufacture long (1900mm) handles from SS304 pipes - seamless (ID-31mm). The final finish required is matte / satin finish as in all good looking architectural items. Since the manufacturing process involves machining / pipe bending, I wish to do this finishing in the end. Please suggest method or machinery to achieve so.

Thanks in anticipation.

#1 I suggest you get an acceptable finished sample from your customer if they have one.
#2 If they don't then you could blast finish these parts or mass finish them. Naturally, mass finishing is a more economical process. Depending on the media used, blasting will produce a dull luster to a frosted appearance. Mass finishing will produce a galvanized appearance to a similar frosted appearance.

Hi, Rabiuk. 304 means type 304 stainless steel. This is an austinitic 18-8 stainless steel (roughly 18% chromium and 8% nickel).
