Corrosion impact on buried pipelines

Q. I would like to know more about the impact of corrosion on buried pipeline and its industrial effects.

A. Well, corrosion of a buried pipeline can cause the pipe to develop leaks. One effect of that is added cost as the pipeline must be replaced. The additional effects would depend on what the pipeline carries. The product it carries could become contaminated and useless; and depending on what the product was, it could poison the land or aquifer. Good luck.

A. Hi Aaron,

You didn't mention what your pipe lines are made of .... nor if the ground, where they are buried, is at all acidic

You must be more specific. OK?

Then, as Ted so correctly pointed out, just WHAT does that pipeline carry?

If PVC were used, then that's OK for the majority of all the acids ... but not (most) solvents
