Anticipating HCl vapor in carbon steel, stainless steel ducts
I am thinking to apply Titanium Tetrachloride, TiCl4, vapor to react with water vapor (product of combustion) in a combustor to produce ( 1 micron particles) as a seeding for laser PIV measurement. HCl is also produced along with these particles. The amount of HCl in air is about 1% in 1500F and 100 psia. Can any one give me some information or source of information of the degree of corosion or damage on steel surfaces. Thanks in advance.

I would expect a pretty severe corrosion of either carbon steel or stainless steel. You have all of the ingredients there to produce some pretty rapid etching of the steels, and hydrogen embrittlement of the steel if that is a concern. You may want to consider an inert liner.

Is your quoted temperature of 1500F correct? Or is that a typo for
150F?
The difference has an absolutely major influence on choice of materials.
