How to re-surface stainless steel refrigerator

I have a smooth surface stainless steel refrigerator. I want to make it look less smooth because it shows so many spots..well it shows everything and I don't like having to "clean" it 24-7. How can I make it look distressed? what can I do to remove the smoothness? Thanks.

That's the problem with stainless steel appliances, especially ones with large flat surfaces, they show any faint smudge. There are some possible ways to make it less shiny, but that will only make fingerprints and the like show up even more.

You could try car wax this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , maybe it will help.

No, I haven't tried car wax as I don't have stainless appliances. I think it may reduce smudging and fingerprinting, but you will have to try it and see. Use any name brand, apply as you would on a car, follow directions on container. Let us know how it works out.

Susan, not sure if your commenting more on the nature of cleaners/polishes out there for Stainless steel. If your sure about wanting to change the texture of the surface on your appliance then our Scratch-B-Gone can do this as the grits in our kit range from 80 to 200. Best of success.
