Is magnesium thinfilm deposition from a liquid precursor possible?

2007

Hi.

I'm currently experimenting with the AGOG process on a sample of Spinel to see if a Ag-Mg->Spinel reaction is feasible. What I am trying to find out if it is possible to deposit a thin film of magnesium (oxide) on to an aluminium (oxide) substrate via a method that does not need to use any extensive specialised equipment. Is it actually possible to deposit magnesium via a liquid precursor route?

Thank you for any feedback.

I did some some web searches of your terminology to understand what you are talking about and it's very interesting work, Mau Yuen (Helen?). Wouldn't it be nice if we could create ruby simply by pouring solutions of magnesium oxide onto aluminum oxide, and heating? Sorry that I don't have the knowledge to be able to help you, but good luck with it.
