Blisters in zinc plating

What is the maximum plating thickness up to which blisters will not be formed on the component in Zinc plating. Our platers say beyond 25 microns plating, blisters are formed on the part.

How can this be avoided?

Yes, Sonu, 25 microns is quite thick for zinc plating, whether on zinc diecastings or on other substrates. If your platers are delivering 25 micron-thick blister-free plating, they are doing a good job.

Politicians are wise when they say "I will not attempt to answer a hypothetical", though. Rather than asking us what the hypothetical maximum thickness without blistering is -- which depends on the alloy, the soundness of the castings, the cleaning cycle, whether chemical milling was employed in the pretreatment, whether the plating is acid, alkali, or cyanide-based, whether you are rack or barrel plating, and a host of other issues -- please tell us what you are trying to do and why. Thanks.
