Is it necessary to have a ventilator in room for passivation with citric acid ?
2007
Dear Sirs,
We would like to form line for passivation with citric acid .
We would like to passivate vessels which are made from material SS 316 L.
We have following questions about that:
1) Which concentration of citric acid do you recommended?
2) Is ventilation necessary in room for passivation with citric acid (in concentration which You recommended)
3) We are going to make tanks from material polypropylene. Is it correct?
Your answers are very important for us!
We are looking forward to have Your answers as soon as possible!
Best regards!

You will find a good article on citric passivation at www.pfonline.com/articles/059905.html
Polypropylene tanks should be fine.
citric acid is approved as a food additive so it is low hazard.
The process does not produce fume so no extract is needed.
You may wish to use extract if your cleaning process is hot producing steam. Not a health hazard but corrodes equipment.
