Can I blast Magnesium Castings with stainless steel shot?

I have been making Magnesium Alloy Castings By Sand, Gravity Casting Techniques and some of the castings are huge (UPTO 2200 dIA. x 500 MM) overall size. The customer is looking forward to achieving High Quality of Surface Finish.

My question is whether I can Shot Blast Magnesium using o.5-1 mm Stainless Steel shots. Does Nickel content in Stainless Steel accelerate Corrosion of Magnesium at a later day?

I am going to guess that the alloy is magnesium and aluminum. This can be blasted, but the cabinet needs to be cleaned very well on a daily basis as the fines , or powder, are explosively flammable. Avoid anything that might cause a spark.
