S.S. press plates stick after bead blasting

2007

Dear Sir,
we make s.s. press plates for decorative laminate sheet industry we make different finish on s.s. plates (1250 mm x 2500 mm, 2.5thick, 304, 202, 410) Now before few days we tried glass beads of .80 to .150 microns blasted on the s.s. plate (410) and on other plate with 1 mm glass bead but when it was taken for trial for decorative laminate press the decorative or hpl sheet sticks to the surface of the blasted plate as I thought it may be because ot s.s. 410 series so I did brush finish on another 400 series but it did not stick and work properly. so does bead blasting bring change in s.s surface which makes it sticky.

blasting is done on 4 kg pressure
distance between the nozzle an sheet is 5".

In my experience chrome plating of these plates is necessary to avoid sticking. If you are able to make satisfactory plates simply by brushing instead of blasting, count your blessings :-)

Bead blasting effect on s.s.? Is it possible to bring bead blasted effect or grain type effect on stainless steel with the help of chemicals I have tried sulfuric acid and HF ( 50% both) but the grains are very small I want larger grains.
