SST requirement for silver plated copper component
2007
Sir
We are an electrical switch gear company and we are doing silver plating on a copper part. basically it's a contactor of starter. The coating thickness of the plating is around 6-10 microns. Our customer is SST, 96 hrs. pass on this contactor.
My Question: is
is SST is an appropriate test on silver plating where as the base metal is copper?

I would not call it common, but it could be used. You would have to look for green corrosion rather than red or white.

With reference to the previous query I have three questions.
1 - What should be the salt spray hours for silver plating on copper part.(plating thickness is 2-3 micron.)
2 - Is the SST is a recommended test for silver plating.
3 - Is there any reference in ASTM where we can find out the correlation between plating thickness and SST hours.
Best regards
