Unknown oxidation problem in nickel/gold plating
I am electro plating Ni and then Au onto a Cu substrate. I have done this many times in the past and it work well, but recently my Au has been forming oxidation during the plating process. The only thing that I have changed from previous times is that I brazed stainless steel screws onto the Cu substrate. I tried plating a blank Cu substrate to test my method after the first substrate with the screws was oxidized, but I got the same results. What could caused this problem? Do you think after the first substrate, my solution is contaminated?

Gold does not oxidise.
Please describe the problem more accurately.
