Surface Finish after Manganese Phosphating

2007

Dear sir
We are doing manganese Phosphating on our shaft after centerless grinding in which surface Finish comes 0.4 Ra but after phosphating uniformity is not proper & surface finish comes 0.8 - 1.1 Ra as against our spec. 0.8 Ra max.
Please help. material of our shaft is 20 MnCr5

I think it's the spec that needs corrective action rather than the phosphating process, Rajiv. One of the purposes of phosphatizing is to offer "tooth" for paint adhesion and oil retention. It sounds a bit like one of the specifications for your phosphatizing process it that it must not work :-)
