Sharperizing treatment for 1000 hrs salt spray life on Nyloc nuts

2007

I want to achieve 1000 hrs salt spray life on Nyloc nuts which form part of a suspension assembly to be supplied to a U.S.customer. The U.S.customer says this is possible with Sharperizing treatment. The Indian nut manufacturer says they can provide a salt spray life of 300 hrs only with Dacromet treatment. More than this salt spray life will make it difficult to maintain the thread tolerances, he further says.

I understand the nylon ring inside the nut will get damaged if fully finished nut is treated for salt spray life. I want to know if Sharperizing facility is available in INDIA. If not, what is the solution for my problem?

Sharperizing is a proprietary brand name for a zinc-nickel electroplated finish with a conversion coat and sealer, Raja. If you want that brand name, start with that supplier and ask them who is licensed to do the process in India. If you would consider a different brand of zinc-nickel plating and conversion coating, ask local shops if they do zinc-nickel plating and what salt spray life they can offer.
