Using Enthone N-190

Q. I was visiting a shop and found that they use N-190 for both Nickel sulfamate and EN. Can it be done?
Thanks

A. Hi, A. I don't know what N-190 is but I am aware of electrolytic nickel plating being done from electroless nickel baths (when the particular qualities of nickel phosphate are desired), but not the other way round. But I'm sure you are not so much interested in a laboratory curiosity as some practical application, and it is the same for the readers -- so please tell us what you are thinking.

Q. Ted,
Thank you for the follow up. I am just curious to know if N-190 (Enthone product) can be used to strip both nickel sulfamate and EN. Something tells me that it will take a lot longer to strip EN using N-190 because of the high Phosphorous contents. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

A. I'm not familiar with that product, so didn't realize that you were speaking about a stripper. Already having said I'm not familiar with it, we'll have to wait 'til someone who has used it answers. Good luck.

A. Why not ask Enthone?

A. N-190 will remove EN but there were issues with it and I can't recall what they were, I want to say shortened bath life. Contact Enthone for details.
