Hot dip galvanzing manual process query
Dear sir I am from Saudi Arabia working with an Arabian galvanizing company as Q.C. My query is why it is needed to heat the flux solution. We maintain flux at 26'BE and have 21000 liters of flux solution. We use double salt of branded indian company.

Two good reasons for heating your flux are:
1. To heat the steel and thereby assist with drying off the water carrying the flux.
2. To ensure the dissolved flux crystals don't come out of solution and deposit on the tank bottom.

Dear Salooja:
in addition to Geoff's comments,
Heating of flux is better for increasing the wetability (more adhesive) with steel surface, so if the flux is completely wet the surface (by using wetting agents), you can use it without heating.

Dear Salooga:
In North America it is common to use triple salt or quadraflux at 12 degrees to 16 degrees baumé at 160 °F (71 °C). By doing so the product quality is greatly improved and the zinc usage is about 30% lower than when using flux at a lower temperature. Also zinc spatter and zinc clean-up drips on the product are greatly reduced. The product is sometimes confused with zinc electroplated steel.
