Corrosion Protective Quick Cold Dip for Steel
2007
I'm looking for a cheap solution to give some corrosion protection to a steel component.
The component is a cylindrical free machining steel part which has a plastic and zinc plated steel outer cylinder. This inner cylinder is not completely enclosed and the total assembly including the inner cylinder can be exposed to water, air and mineral oil in the field.
I am looking for a solution which would be a quick cold electroless dip which could if necessary be dried afterwards (something simple enough to perhaps do in-house). The dip must be resistant to mineral oil and also provide something around 12 hours to red rust in a salt spray test.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,
Get hold of electroplating suppliers, they have a water based clear lacquer that would do the trick.
