Thermal Barrier Coating - Building Construction

2007

Q. I am a mechanical design engineer with a company that does the design and development of exterior curtain walls for commercial buildings.

I am looking for a thermal barrier coating that could be applied to aluminum extrusions ( primarily 6061 Alloy) that would help to reduce the thermal conduction of cold exterior surfaces to interior window surfaces.

Keypoints are low cost, able to handle parts up to 15 feet long, and able to be overcoated with paint.

I've seen thermal barrier coatings for turbine parts (too expensive?)

We already use thermal breaks of PVC and are looking for an alternative that might be lower in cost or offer better thermal impedance.

Thank you very much for your time.

Best Regards.

Q. I am looking for a way to apply polyester powder coating to thermally broken aluminium profiles so that the appearance of the coating on the polyamide strip is consistent all along the bar.
