Recommended Cleaning Process Prior to TiN Coating

I am currently getting 20% yield (bubbles and peeling) while coating a titanium component with titanium nitride. I suspect that this is due to impurities on the surface of the substrate. What would be the best cleaning process to follow after the component was polished.

OK world, I would have thought that any medical product had to conform to an approved FDA method or process. If not, I am seriously frightened! Who ever knows, either way, please comment.

What method are you using to deposit the titanium nitride?
