Enamel aerosol: problem with paint drying
2007
Subject: refinish industrial shop stools.
Prepped by cleaning, scotchbrite medium/coarse solvent wipe down and tack down
Used Ace Rust Stop(made as private label by Sherwin Williams at Krylon plant?)Enamel as we did not want to set up guns for satin black for such a small job.
Metal at room temp mid 60's, paint at room temp, ball agitated
Sprayed same brand grey primer and waited appropriate time.
Top coated with Satin black Rust Stop enamel with light tack spray then light quick 2nd shot.No drips. Has FanSpray nozzle for good atomization unlike most aerosols.
Looks like insufficient driers, etc. 5 days later with quartz then infrared and ambient temp up still tacky.Even tacky where is paint is thin mil thickness as can see primer.
Will it eventually dry? Cannot( I don't think) use old master trick of ice water flooding to effect cure( I believe for long oil varnishes only)
Any tips
Thanks

Defective paint? or formulated to remain tacky?
