Pink Brass

We are currently etching brass using ferric chloride this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] with a nitric acid rinse. Occasionally the brass turns pink. Any idea why and how we can prevent it?

Thank you.

Dear Mr Micheal,

The pink rose like colour is an account of Tarnishing occurring immediately after the etching. This happens faster if you are using heat for drying the brass.

To prevent this use 20 gms / lit of Sodium dichromate to antitarnish the brass before drying.
