COMPATIBILITY OF 18-8 STAINLESS STEEL WITH 304

WE ARE MAKING A STRUCTURAL BOLTED CONNECTION OF TYPE 304 STAINLESS STEEL. HIGH STRENGTH BOLTS MADE OF 18-8 ARE READILY AVAILABLE.

As far as I understand, 18-8 and 304 are essentially the same thing, John.

You're right on, Ted! The 18-8 "family" includes 302, 303, 304, sometimes 316, 321, and 347, depending who's sending the invitations to the reunion. Chances are good the bolts are 302, since it cold works nicely to a strong fastener. For all of these, there is no concern about galvanic compatibility, as they are sufficiently similar.
