Resist for etching with ferric chloride

Can you please recommend what I could use as a resist to protect the side and back of my aluminum plate as I am using ferric chloride this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] to etch a house number into the plate. I am using a vinyl decal as my resist for the top.

Paint, adhesive tape or plastisol are some options.
