Plating Thickness and Corrosion Resistance Standard
2007
Hello
I would like to know if certain standard exists which gives life of the plated components (Number of hours / days) before corrosion starts in salt mist spray test.
Typically data which contains 'x' microns of Nickel plating on brass will withstand salt mist spray test for 'xx' hours (for the plating type(s) and base material listed below)
Date for :
Zinc plating thickness on steel
Nickel plating thickness on brass
Tin plating thickness on brass
Tin plating thickness on copper
Silver plating thickness on brass
Silver Plating thickness on copper

Yes, there are specs which are somewhat like that, Gopinath. Usually they would not quite include a chart of thickness versus salt spray life, though; rather, they would specify a minimum thickness and a minimum salt spray life. Most plating and metal finishing specifications do include that type of information.
