Staining stainless steel
I am a garden railroader hobbyist who used stainless steel track in my back yard . Is there some way to stain stainless steel black or a dark brown color?

First of two simultaneous responses --
Robert, simply use diluted muriatic acid ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] (pool acid) and brush on. Be sure to neutralize with baking soda [in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil links] when color achieved. All Aboard!
