Using Cold Black oxide and Stripping Black oxide
Hello,
I have been attempting to black oxide some stainless steel screws with cold black oxide. The coating is nothing near what I expected it to be as I can easily scratch it and rub it off with my fingers right down to the base metal of the parts.
I have 2 questions here.
1. Does anyone suggest any cold black oxide products that could possibly preform better than what I bought from a hobby plating site.
2. For the current screws I have, what is the best way to clean up and strip all the screws I have here?
Thanks

Preston..you could try simply dipping into diluted HCl (pool muriatic acid ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] ) as this chemical will turn Stainless steel black then coat with a satin clear finish or black wax.
adv.
You can also contact my company as we may have other ideas if this one doesn't work.
