Corrosion resistance for swimming pool components

I'm looking to replace stainless steel components on a jack system used in chlorine water swimming pools with a less expensive carbon steel with some type of corrosion resistant treating. I have had little success with Nitrotec coatings and am looking for an economical alternative coating with a 5 year corrosion resistance. The components are just splashed and possibly temporarily submerged in chlorine water but spend the majority of time in storage poolside in the humid environment (indoor/outdoor use). Components make up a small hand pump and actuator which must remain free of corrosion for operational performance and aesthetic reasons. I would appreciate any input or suggestions for this application. Thank you.

Personally, I would try a quality powder coating. Powder coating is very hard and extremely chemical resistant. As long as it used in a way that will not abrade or chip the coating, it should last 5+ years in most environments.

Chlorine is very hard on carbon steels. If you have to plate, you should try a galvanic coating. Most other platings will be attacked (eventually) by the free Chlorine in the environment. The only other practical solution is to use a 303, 304, or 316 S.S.

Good Luck!
