How much or how strong sodium hydroxide
2006
I need to remove the chrome plating from my aluminum trim, I have been told to use sodium hydroxide, I live in the UK and things like oven cleaner
⇦ this on
eBay or
Amazon [affil links] I have already used but I don't think they are the same as the ones you use in the US.
So can any one tell me how much I need to remove chrome plating from my trim without hurting it,
many thanks,
- Essex, England
No! Sodium hydroxide is not the right thing to use; it will ruin the aluminum. Please send your components to a plating shop -- they will know what finish they are looking at, what the substrate is, and how to do what you want.
