Electroplated Nickel for Food and Drug Product Contact
Hi~
My name is Jason Orloff & I've been building a career in pharma for several years now.
My current project involves electroplating of nickel for a dry Food/Pharma application. This would be an application similar to tablet presses where I know that some components are electroplated nickel. Of particular concern to me are the Cobalt and other trace elements but I've found no one willing to discuss this until finding your web-community.
Do you have any guidance on electroplated nickel compositions suitable as a product contact material for food and drug?
Thanks for your help!

Shouldn't be any cobalt in nickel.
However nickel is an allergen, that's why industry uses chrome over it when it is used in a medical / food environment.
Never seen bare nickel used in a pharma / food environment, normally it oxidizes too fast.
