LOGOTYPE PRINTED ON STAINLESS STEEL - RESISTANCE

2006

Hi !
We manufacture stainless steel tableware.

We have been trying for weeks to print directly logotypes and drawings on our parts (mainly made of 304 stainless steel) by using tampography or inkjet printing and curing of the inks.

UNfortunately even if we success in printing, the drawing are quickly erased after a few dishwasher cycles.

Could anyone help us to find the necessary pre or post treatment (or pre coating) or suitable inks.

Thank you in advance

JM

Very hardly will you find suitable paints that resist dishwasher cycles or hand rubbing and washing. Perhaps automotive type. You could also investigate etching (chemical, sand blast or laser), selective plating, selective PVD coatings, porcelain enamels, ceramics or a combination of these.

Maybe using kind of selective etching (wand with logotype printed, acid etchant and dc current)

There are a number of commercial products for chemical etching that provide a permanent black or colorless mark on the metal. You could google the keywords : metal etching marking

This is probably what your competitors are using, or a variation on the same etching technology/process. We mark everything from machine tools to valve marker tags with ours.
