What is the possibility of cracking Aluminum Alloy Wheels When Chrome Plating?

I'm in the Automotive Accessory Parts business, and have heard that some chrome plating processes can cause Aluminum Alloy Wheels to crack.

If this is true are some methods of plating less likely to cause cracking then others?
