Bright dip vs. pickling of brass




Good morning. I am somewhat new to the metal finishing side of manufacturing and have a question regarding bright dipping of brass and pickling of brass. I am in the process of quoting a new job for a customer and the part requires NSF 61 certification. We plan on running the part out of 360 brass. Is bright dipping of brass and pickling the same thing? From what I have researched pickling has to do more with steel than brass but they both seem to be dipped in an acid bath. As far as certification goes do you need to have the part,the process or process facility certified? I plan on running the parts in two separate facilities and don't know if this will affect how the parts get certified. I am also looking for a company that can provide bright dip or pickling in the Chicagoland area. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Bright dip and pickling are two different processes.Bright dip = chemical polishing,pickling= removing of oxide after soldering or any other heat treatment. Hope it helps and good luck.
