Nickel plating turning dull in few months

We outsource bright nickel plating on free cutting brass parts(screw machined components) from a vendor who uses barrel process. We have noticed that in few batches the parts turn dull/ blackish in appearance in about 60-90 days time. The vendor is unable to identify the source of the problem. Any suggestions? The problem occurs in few batches only.

Check the thickness of the nickel on the parts.

Dear Pranav

As Manish said check coating thickness. Somestimes to get faster production people use to add excess of brightener in barrel which make coating looks blackish and looks more blackish after storage.

Dear Pranav,
First of all check your brightener level thru meter. Then pour some anti brightener in that bath; that will solve your problem.
