Renovating bathroom fixtures, faucets/spouts

I'm a new homeowner (in Colts Neck, NJ) of a not-so-new home that has shiny (gold-colored) solid brass fixtures in the bathroom, specifically the sink, shower and jacuzzi tub. We want to change the metal color scheme to all chrome/nickel (silver-colored)without having to rip out the faucets and replace them...is this possible at a reasonable cost? To replace would be nearly impossible as the jacuzzi buttons, necks around the jets, etc. are all this gold-colored brass. In lieu of true "refinishing" is there a paint or store-bought finish that can be applied to give the silver look?

There are companies specializing in in-situ "brush plating" who may be able to help you, Kimberly. Casual methods like paint and wax rubs (Rub n Buff this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] ) probably will not hold up at all in this kind of environment.

I live in St. Louis Missouri and there's a company here that manufactures "Liquid Stainless Steel" paint this on eBay or Amazon [affil links]
I've used it on my faucets in the kitchen and it works great. The company is Thomas' Kitchen Art.

Ed. note 2023: Thomas' seems to no longer exist. The St. Louis supplier appears to have been renamed Giani Granite or simply Liquid Stainless Steel.
