What analysis will help to characterize gold electroplating bath
Q. Hello, I am Sriram Research fellow from Bangalore, India.
1. I am trying to plate gold from thiosulphate-sulphite bath without any additive.
2. I tried with disodium hydrogen phosphate as additive to reduce any Au(III) to Au(I) Plating is good.I already characterised plated gold and got results. But the solution turns from light transparent yellow to brown within 3 days. Now I want to stabilize this bath for long use. I will be thankful if you can suggest me a method. Also suggest me about the various test to perform to characterise the components like thiosulphate, sulphite, sulfide, chloride and gold content in its various oxidation states. Sorry I feel I have written an essay.
Thanks for looking.

A. The critical parameters are pH and gold content but the process can be unstable and literally fall apart overnight leaving a rather expensive gold deposit on the bottom of the bath.
But why re-invent the wheel. The gold supply plating supply houses have solved the problem - or 'at least have it under control. Their proprietary processes cost little more than the basic chemicals and come with detailed control instructions and technical backup when you have a problem.
Save your research effort for something innovative.

Orosene 990 hs solution analysis
Q. Good morning
We are beginning to use products Orosene 990 HS in a line of platinizing, I knowing with that we can get out chemical procedures for solution analysis of parameters operation.
For your information a lot of thanks.

A. Hi Rigo. Orsene 990 HS is a product of Technic (often used for gold plating of circuit board tabs) and they will provide you with a technical data sheet. The solution probably contains secret proprietary ingredients that are best analyzed per their procedures. Good luck.
