Nickel plating on sand cast aluminum

I want to electroplate nickel on sand casted aluminum articles. what grade of aluminum should I use for no porosity marks & process of best aluminum plating so that results should be as good as on brass?

Very little chances of success if you use sand castings no matter what grade of aluminum you choose. I would suggest a permanent metallic injection mold. Much more expensive but almost eliminates problems.

Dear Mr. Atul,

It is possible to get good nickel plating on sand die-casting. Try combination of HF + HnO3 (20-25% + 75-80%V/V) for etching. Use nickel modified zincating.
