Removal of zinc plating for decorator purposes

Hello,
My name is Kenny Davidson and I am in the process of remodeling a home. We are going with an old west theme. In doing so some of the accent pieces we want to suspend a light fixture with old chain. This you can not buy. We have found the link style we want but all are either painted or coated with Zinc. I am inquiring as how do I remove the Zinc plating so I can promote a slight rust and aged look on these pieces?

Do it only with extreme care, wearing personal protective equipment including good goggles this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , and making sure that the fumes won't etch other metal, and being aware that the acid will strip the zinc plating almost instantly, and may immediately bubble over -- but yes, it can be stripped very quickly with muriatic acid this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] .
