Plating on Sheet Iron Products
We produce Handmade Decorative Jars / containers in Brass. Due to major price hike in brass we are forced to use cheaper metals like sheet iron instead of casted brass. We are looking for solutions in Plating on Sheet Iron with finishes like Brass finish, Pewter finish, Nickel finish, Copper finishes. Final product needs to be risk free from Rust formation for a few years, and should have a blemishless finish. As base metal finishing on Iron sheet as compared to brass tends to have not so smooth a surface, there is tendency for lines to appear after plating. We look forward to solutions for this. Thank you

Although you'll have to spend some time comparing all of the alternatives in detail, Ravi, I would probably give strong consideration to nickel plating the parts first. This will provide some of the leveling you are seeking, as well as corrosion resistance. On top of the nickel you can electroplate brass or apply a gold-tone electrophoretic lacquer. Good luck.
