Remove Antique Finish from Class Ring

Q. My white gold class ring has an antique finish. I want to remove the antique finish so as to obtain a natural white gold finish. Is soaking the ring in acetone this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] Warning! highly Flammable! the best method for achieving this? Two jewelers have told me to use Acetone, but a class ring manufacturer told me the acetone could damage/discolor the gold ring - but they just may have said that because they want you to purchase a new ring from them.

Q. Please let me know if you've heard anything back about this... I'd like my antiquing removed from my white gold Aggie ring. Thanks,

A. I've had good luck with a toothbrush and baking soda toothpaste. It's mildly abrasive and no harsh chemicals in it.
