Analysis methods for mixture of hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid
Hi, I'm Yani from Indonesia.
I have a problem how to analysis hydrochloric acid in mixture of hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid.
Can I analyze it with titration method? In my experience, the result of titration using sodium hydroxide will have a higher hydrochloric acid concentration than the industrial standard (the main analysis is percentage of hydrochloric acid). The industrial standard for hydrochloric acid in Indonesia is 30 to 33 %. I think it caused by presence of sulfuric acid on solution (there's barium sulphate precipitation when reacted with barium chloride).
Could you tell me about the right analysis methods for my problem?
Thanks a lot,

You check presence of HCl or chloride by adding 1% AgNO3; you can estimate the amount of HCl from chloride or amount of sulfuric from sulphate by gravimetry.
