Corrosion Protection for Titanium
I am looking for an alternative to painting for protecting a titanium product against corrosion. Anodic Treatment per AMS 2488 has been suggested. This product will be subjected to highly corrosive environments, e.g., sea spray (salt water). Any suggestions?

Titanium doesn't ordinarily require protection against seawater. Pickling for 5 minutes in 12%HNO3-1%HF at ambient temperature to remove surface contamination is suggested by Timet as an alternative to anodizing.
If the application involves acidic conditions, high temperature, high stresses or crevices, it may help to use a more resistant alloy or extra-low interstitials grade.
