How to quickly clean nickel plated steel before applying a brass lacquer without affecting lacquer
I work in a factory that uses nickel plated domes on receptacles. These domes are sent out to be plated and returned to the plant in plastic bags and a cardboard dome carrier. At times they will be stored for a week or so until we get to them. When it's time to prep them for lacquer we clean them with isopropyl alcohol. This seems to cause a haze which has to be rubbed for 5 minutes to get off often repetitively. Is there an inexpensive cleaner that will not affect the lacquer that will clean them with one application in a quick and effective manner. I'm guessing that this haze is some type of oxidation from sitting in storage waiting to be cleaned. Please reply, I'm tired of rubbing these with a rag and alcohol. We do hundreds of these at a time.
