Corrosion in Stainless Steel
I have used Stainless Steel and within a few months have corrosion spots on both 304 and 316 grade ? This is a coastal region but there has been no contact with sea water as such ...Is there anything else that could cause corrosion?

Rust on stainless steel and also nonferrous metals can be caused by iron contamination of the surface, often introduced during machining processes. You are especially at risk for contamination when using tools on stainless that have previously been used on mild steel. Passivation will remove any iron contamination present.

Further to the response from Stellar solutions we must add that salty air in Bombay can corrode almost all types of SS materials and this is not the first experience.
The removal of Free iron from the surface is carried out on site by application of the SS passivation solutions.
These are available domestically . This column forbids commercial activity .
