Printing on phosphate coated steel component

How to print a permanent number on phosphate coated steel component. The color of print required is WHITE.

By my definition of permanent, you can not. Phosphate can be abraded of without a great deal of problem. Days, weeks or years of durability would be totally dependent on how it was used.

I agree with Mr. James Watts that the phosphated steel can be easily abraded with a sharp needle/object. By selectively removing the phosphate coating on the coated steel you can create a print/mark.

Phosphate coating is mainly a pretreatment and not a finish of its own. So the durability of your print/mark depends on the environment.

Where you are going to use this?

Try stencil electro etching.

Laser printing machines leave a nice white print. However it will last as long as the phosphate.
