Is Chem Film OK to use on Cast Aluminum tooling plate?

2006

We are trying to lower the price on our Shipping plate, the plate is currently made from 6061-T6-Al with Chem Film 3. It's a simple flat plate .25" thick with a lot of 8-32 and through holes to bolt parts down to it.

We would like to go to Cast Aluminum tooling plate and are not sure if the Chem Film would be OK on it.

Thanks for any help.

Cast can be used for a lot of things, but is a miserable failure at others, so it depends on your requirements. Cast will not take chem film as well as wrought will, but it may be good enough.
What is a shipping plate?
