Fuel Tank Internal Corrosion
2006
Dear Sir
We are facing problem with corrosion along the internal surface of the diesel fuel tank in our Buses and Trucks. It is made of Cold Rolled and Cold Annealed Mild steel sheets. The corrosion products clogs the fuel injection pump filters causing down time for the vehicles. I need to know the cost effective method of surface modifying the internal layer of the diesel tank for corrosion protection. There are enough processes to coat the external surface, but coating the internal area covering all the finer recesses and welded joints is becoming a challenge. Some of the existing methods are proving too costly for immediate implementation.
Thank you

Dear Mr Aravind,
Zinc Nickel plated sheets are normally used in fuel tanks because of high resistance to fuel and welding operations.
A cheaper way out may be just zinc plating.
