How to RE-TARNISH BRASS BED FINIALS

Q. My wife and I purchased a new bed, black iron with tarnished brass ball finials. I cleaned the brass balls with brass cleaner and ruined the look of the bed. If anyone knows how I can RESTORE the tarnish to the brass finials I would very much appreciate the advice. Thanks.

A. Mr. Penny,

From your description it sounds like the brass finials were only brass plated. When you polished them you likely rubbed off all of the brass plating that was on them. I don't think there are any more plating shops in Nashville doing brass plating any more but there are others across the country.
