At our end we are using high speed self regulating hard chrome bath.but the problem we are facing is that we are not able to achieve hardness of the plating (hardness required is900vickers -1100 Vickers ) bath contains chromic acid, strontium sulphate and sodium silicofluoride. Please guide us what proportion of mixture and parameters we should adopt to get hardness between 900vickers -1100 Vickers on the surface plated for 50-100 microns of hard chrome coating.

Shrikant S.Nigade

Dear Mr. Shrikant
Temperature is also crucial factor to get hardness it should be between 55- 60 degree C and ratio of sulphate to chromate is also important.Maintain chromic acid between 200-260 GMS/ltr. As well as check the trivalent of bath and impurities of bath.
